Appreciating Our Nurses: The Power Behind Care
Nurses are at the center of every care experience, whether it takes place in a client’s home or within a research study. Their work calls for both clinical expertise and the ability to meet people where they are, often during important or uncertain moments. This work is honored each May during Nurse Appreciation Month, when we recognize our Professional Case Management (PCM) and EmVenio Research nurses who make a positive impact on the lives of the patients they serve every day.
This year’s theme, Our Nurses: The Power Behind Care, reflects the influence nurses have in every interaction and throughout the care journey. In home health care, that impact is felt in the homes of clients who depend on consistent, thoughtful support to maintain their quality of life, where they are most comfortable. In clinical research, it is evident in each research study that nurses guide patients through every step while building trust and confidence along the way.
Stories That Inspire
We’re highlighting some of our longest-tenured nurses during the month of May. Learn more about the connections they build and the impact they make every day:

Registered Nurse
Tenure: 9+ years
For Frances, nursing comes down to doing the job well and treating people the right way. Whether she is providing care or spending time with someone, her focus remains on supporting each client in a way that respects their experience and leaves them feeling cared for. Francis says, “Being with someone one-on-one, you become someone they rely on. A lot of the time, they just need the chance to talk. That connection matters just as much as the care we provide.”

Licensed Practical Nurse
Tenure: 9+ years
For David, nursing comes down to showing up and staying consistent. He values the time spent getting to know his patients, especially those later in life, and takes pride in helping them feel more at ease in their day-to-day routines. That steady presence is what keeps him committed to his work. David says, “I always hope I’m able to be effective in the care I provide and make life a little easier for my clients. Whether it’s for them or their family, that matters to me. It’s about doing the job well and being there when it counts.”

Certified Mobile Research Nurse
Tenure: 8+ year
For Sharon, nursing is about showing up consistently, listening carefully, and staying connected beyond a single visit. That sense of presence continues to be the reason the work remains meaningful to her year after year. Sharon says, “On the patient side, especially right now, listening is so important. Collaboration and connecting with the healthcare team make a real difference. When we work together, we can help people in ways we never could on our own.”

Certified Mobile Research Nurse
Tenure: 13+ years
For Becca, nursing is about being consistently present, building trust, and supporting families every step of the way. It’s work she’s proud to be part of every day. Becca says, “Every visit is a chance to really show up for someone. I try to be fully present, listen closely, and meet families where they are. When you take the time to build trust, it changes how people experience care. That connection is what stays with me.”
While May gives us dedicated time to recognize our nurses, the impact they make continues every day of the year. The care, commitment, and expertise they bring to their work shape the experience of every patient and client we serve, and that is what The Power Behind Care looks like in action.
