Zaira Chaudhry, MD, MPH, CIME, CMLE
Dr. Chaudhry, who resides on the Western Slope of Colorado, began working with PCM this spring. She is a board-certified physician, dual-trained in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. In addition to her background in clinical and administrative medicine, Dr. Chaudhry is a published researcher who has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals to advance the practice of evidence-based medicine. She has served on various committees and councils through the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the Health Enhancement Research Organization to promote workplace safety, health, and wellbeing.
She is experienced in performing permanent impairment ratings using various editions of the American Medical Association (AMA) Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, specializing in the AMA Guides Fifth Edition. During an impairment rating, workers discuss how covered conditions, like ovarian cancer, breast cancer, or the other 22 Special Exposure Cohort cancers, impact their lifestyles. Workers can select an impairment doctor they feel comfortable with having such in-depth, personal health conversations.
Dr. Chaudhry is dedicated to ensuring that every client interaction is both compassionate and informative, saying, “I am honored to join Professional Case Management in serving the brave patriots of our nation’s nuclear weapons and uranium worker community.”
Nuclear weapons and uranium workers with their U.S. Department of Labor medical benefits white card are eligible for an impairment evaluation every two years. An impairment award is financial compensation for the permanent loss of function of a body part or organ due to a covered illness under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), as established by medical evidence and measured by percentage points. For each 1% of impairment, $2,500 is awarded, up to a maximum of $250,000. To learn more about impairment evaluations, call us at 866.578.2580 to speak with a PCM Impairment Navigator.
