Introducing PCM’s FamilyFirst Caregiver Program
Professional Case Management (PCM) is excited to announce the launch of our FamilyFirst Caregiver Program. Whether a family member is caring for a spouse, a parent, or someone else close to them who previously worked in the nuclear weapons and uranium industries, PCM is committed to acknowledging and honoring the difference they make. Through this program, family caregivers will find opportunities to connect with other relative caregivers, enhance their caregiving skills, and celebrate the vital role they play in keeping loved ones safe and independent at home.
This program provides year-round recognition, appreciation, and connection for the family caregivers involved in our PCM clients’ care. Family caregivers make an extraordinary contribution to the overall care experience, and this program was created to ensure they feel valued. They can also receive compensation for the care they provide to their family members.
Family caregivers often take on a large share of day-to-day responsibilities, which can be demanding. FamilyFirst gives them a consistent support system and creates opportunities to connect with others who understand the unique responsibilities of their role. This program also improves how family caregivers, case managers, and PCM team members collaborate. When caregivers feel supported and well-informed, communication improves, and the care experience becomes more consistent for clients. These benefits extend across our clinical teams and ultimately strengthen the overall service we provide.
The FamilyFirst program is organized around three key elements that guide how we support and recognize caregivers throughout the year, including:
- Recognition and Appreciation
Family caregivers will receive ongoing appreciation through birthday cards, holiday gifts, recognition moments, and mentions in our communications. These touchpoints are designed to ensure they feel recognized and celebrated for the many contributions they make. - Connection
Family caregivers will have opportunities to connect and build community through employee spotlights, events, and shared activities. These help create a sense of connection and allow them to learn from one another and feel part of a broader community. - Resources and Support
FamilyFirst features a simplified employment onboarding process for relative personal caregiver attendants, and a welcome gift for those just getting started. These resources support them and prepare them as they navigate their responsibilities. The program also strengthens their relationship with the PCM clinical team, which contributes to a more consistent and positive care experience for our clients.
To introduce the program in a personal and meaningful way, PCM case managers are delivering a FamilyFirst program flyer and keepsake keychain to all active relative personal caregiver attendants as a heartfelt thank you and a warm welcome to the many good things ahead. As the year continues, FamilyFirst caregivers will be invited to participate in fun gatherings, team member profiles in our newsletter, and appreciation moments designed to keep them engaged and connected. Through these ongoing efforts, we aim to reinforce the foundation of the care we provide and continue strengthening our PCM community as a whole.
