Supporting the American Cancer Society Through Movie Screenings

Supporting the American Cancer Society Through Movie Screenings

In January 2025, our President Greg Austin stepped into the role of Colorado Chapter Chair for the CEOs Against Cancer. This important initiative was created and is led by the American Cancer Society (ACS). His leadership role has presented a meaningful opportunity for Greg to collaborate with fellow CEOs around Colorado to elevate awareness, support groundbreaking research, and inspire action in the fight against cancer.

Our Legacy of Caring

This appointment also highlights Professional Case Management (PCM) and EmVenio Clinical Research’s ongoing commitment to impactful partnerships and initiatives that align with our mission to deliver care and other services that enhance the quality of life for patients in the most healing of environments – the home. The important work that nuclear weapons and uranium workers performed in support of the United States’ nuclear defense often exposed them to toxic chemicals that made them more susceptible to certain cancers, including cancers of the lung, breast, skin, bone, and blood.

Reflecting on our relationship with ACS, President Greg Austin says, “We’re honored to partner with ACS in raising awareness and funds to support life-saving research that helps our clients live longer and more independently with these illnesses. In communities around the U.S., we also offer in-person educational Lunch and Learn events where nuclear and uranium workers can receive additional information from ACS about cancers that commonly affect them and explore ways to enhance their lives and live fully with cancer.”

Summer Movie Fun

In support of ACS, and for the past three years, PCM and our advocacy organization Cold War Patriots (CWP) have hosted a summer movie event across the country, giving PCM employees, clients, and the nuclear and uranium workers we serve the opportunity to share in a meaningful cinematic experience while supporting an important cause.

This past July, CWP rolled out the red carpet to honor our real-life superheroes: the brave nuclear weapons and uranium workers who helped shape our history. We hosted 36 screenings of the blockbuster “Superman” across the country for 1,600 attendees, which included CWP members, PCM clients, and PCM employees for a fun and free day at the movies.

About this year’s movie event, Greg notes, “The Superman theme carried special meaning this year, serving as a reminder of the heroes within the PCM community. Our employees demonstrate this heroism every day, whether caring for clients in their homes, advancing clinical research, or supporting the mission behind the scenes. Equally, the screenings honored workers who brought strength and dedication to life through their service in the nuclear and uranium industries.” This year, our movie partnership with ACS raised over $4,500 in the fight against cancer.

Living our Corporate Values

“This event was also a clear example of our company value, We Work As A Team,” says Greg. “From early planning to the final screening, it took coordination, dedication, and collaboration across roles and regions to bring everything together.”

Many PCM employees played a role in making the movies truly memorable this year, including our movie event committee, regional clinical directors, local outreach teams, the outreach help center, payroll, and finance teams. Whether they helped organize, attended a screening, made a donation, or encouraged others to get involved, their support made a difference. Their involvement helped create something special and made a tangible contribution to our continued support of ACS.

After the movie screenings wrapped, workers in our community also shared their thoughts and appreciation for the support, education, and care they receive from PCM and CWP:

• “Thank you for always remembering us and providing me and my family opportunities to join these fun events.”

• “We just left the theater and wanted to send a quick note of appreciation. My wife and enjoyed our movie date, thank you again.”
