Walking Together Toward Hope: Living Our Values in Action

This past fall, employees of Professional Case Management (PCM) and EmVenio Research came together to support the vital mission of the American Cancer Society (ACS) by participating in two powerful events that combined energy, compassion, and impact.

Stepping Up for the ACS Fit2Be Cancer Free Challenge

Throughout September, our teams brought incredible enthusiasm to the ACS Fit2Be Cancer Free Challenge, joining executives and thousands of colleagues nationwide to step up in the fight against cancer.

The workplace challenge leveraged a virtual fundraising and activity platform where participants navigated an interactive map filled with impact milestones and live chat features to motivate each other. From long walks to creative fundraising events, the teamwork was inspiring from start to finish.

Every week, participants found ways to move a little more and cheer each other on. Weekly challenge winners stood out for their energy and effort, inspiring others to stay engaged and keep the spirit alive. Organizing events, making personal donations, and encouraging colleagues all helped fund lifesaving research, patient programs, and community outreach.

Together, we turned small steps into big results:

  • 74.8 million total challenge steps
  • 32,045 total challenge miles
  • 302,000 total challenge minutes

That’s the equivalent of traveling from London to Sydney and back—with miles to spare—and moving continuously for more than 200 days! Across the country, employees from 54 companies joined in. Together, more than 18,200 participants raised over $1.2 million to ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Carrying the Momentum Forward: Lights of Hope

On October 9th, PCM and EmVenio team members joined the ACS Lights of Hope event in Arvada, Colorado. The evening brought people together to honor loved ones affected by cancer and to support the ACS mission.

A total of 400 fundraising luminaria bags were displayed, with 104 created and dedicated by PCM employees. Each bag carried a name or message in honor of someone impacted by cancer, creating a deeply personal and meaningful experience.

As the venue lit up with glowing bags, attendees reflected on the many lives touched by cancer. The event raised $19,276 through contributions and participation, highlighting why ACS and its Cancer Action Network continue their work to support patients and families.

Greg Austin, President of PCM, shared his thoughts about the evening: “Looking back on the Lights of Hope event, what stands out most is the turnout from our team. It was wonderful to see coworkers come together to honor loved ones and support a cause that touches so many lives. The evening was a meaningful reminder of the compassion and commitment within our organization. I’m proud of how our team showed up and represented PCM.”

Together, We’re Changing Lives

Our total organizational financial support of ACS in 2025 reached $71,936.70. We’re proud of that contribution and continue to be energized by the work we do every day at PCM and EmVenio Research.

  • At PCM, we’re providing the highest quality of home care for our nuclear weapons and uranium clients, many of whom live with cancer diagnoses.
  • At EmVenio Research, we’re reaching new and underserved patient populations in oncology clinical trials, helping to find new cures in the fight against cancer.

This is important work, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to do it. Together, we are living our values, supporting patients, and advancing research—always.
