Floyd Kept the Savannah River Site Powered and Prepared, Now PCM Care Helps Him Recharge

My name is Floyd, and I worked at the Savannah River Site as a shift supervisor in the Power Department.

The Power Department had numerous responsibilities. We operated boilers and powerhouses that provided steam for heating and some processing in all the buildings and the plant. We also supplied domestic water to all the buildings and managed wastewater treatment plants, which required state licenses to operate.

The Power Department maintained emergency diesel generators and conducted weekly surveys of some buildings to ensure readiness in case of an emergency. If the Savannah River Site lost power, our emergency generators would activate and supply power to the buildings.

Although we needed various clearances, such as Q clearance or secret weapons data clearance, the site’s operations were not entirely clear to us. The Savannah River Site had canyon buildings where plutonium and uranium were processed, but we didn’t know all the details of their activities due to security reasons. It was a very interesting job with significant responsibilities.

As a Professional Case Management (PCM) client, it is very nice to have a community to be a part of, and I have enjoyed being with PCM for so long. They have taken excellent care of me. PCM helped me obtain 24-hour nursing care, which has been a blessing. I have some very good nurses with me around the clock, and we get along really well. They take great care of me, so I couldn’t ask for anything better.

I would definitely recommend PCM to a friend. I would introduce them to PCM as the best there is, and I’m sure they would be as good to them as they have been to me.

Floyd’s work at the Power Department kept the Savannah River Site safe in case of emergency, and Floyd’s PCM care team keeps him safe at home with around-the-clock care. Like Floyd, many nuclear weapons and uranium workers who receive their EEOICP benefits take advantage of free healthcare. While PCM care is customized to each client’s needs, even a preliminary meeting with a PCM caregiver or nurse can review a worker’s health goals and ensure they’re on the right track to rest and recharge at home.
