PCM Care Brings Jean Peace of Mind

My name is Jean, and I worked at the Rocky Flats Site in Colorado from 1982 to 1996. During my time there, I held several administrative positions. While working in the recruitment department, I assisted the recruiter and provided tours of Rocky Flats for both classified military personnel and unclassified civilian groups. I met many people and truly enjoyed the experience.

After my time with the recruitment team, I became a secretary in Building 441. Eventually, I transitioned into a role in budget and finance, where I continued to grow professionally.

When I was offered a buyout from Rocky Flats, I accepted it and used the opportunity to pursue further education and opportunities. I trained to become a medical transcriptionist, which became my favorite role.

Although I wasn’t directly involved in making nuclear weapons, I still feel proud to have played a small part in supporting Rocky Flats’ mission to protect our country. I helped recruit college students and raised public awareness about the Rocky Flats Site. I believe that, in my own way, I helped uphold national security.

I’ve been a client of Professional Case Management (PCM) for about six years. I received my U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) medical benefits white card in 2019 and soon after joined PCM, thanks to the persistence of their recruitment team. Their support has brought me peace of mind regarding my health. I no longer feel the need to work as hard to manage my condition. PCM has made things feel peaceful and manageable.

PCM care has made a significant financial difference in my life. The U.S. DOL has covered hundreds of thousands of dollars of my medical expenses, which has lifted a huge burden off my shoulders.

PCM helps ease the emotional toll of living with a disease. They’ve answered every question I’ve had, whether through PCM directly or with the help of my oncologist. Having this support system and my impairment has given me a cushion that greatly improves my quality of life. Emotionally, I feel comfortable, and I know I wouldn’t have that cushion without PCM.

I truly can’t imagine where I’d be without PCM. They’ve made my life so comfortable. PCM takes away the anxiety because they’re always there to help. When I need something, they say, “Let me make this call,” and they get the answer. If my case manager Emily doesn’t have the answer, she’ll find it. PCM has taken the worry out of my disease. I simply don’t have to stress about my health anymore. PCM is like my bed pillow — I sleep well knowing someone else is looking out for me. They are a big part of my life.
